Made from either 304 or 316L stainless steel, the 45-degree Tri-Clamp elbow has clamp adapters like the single-pin heavy-duty clamp with wing nut or a bolted clamp along with rubber gaskets in order to secure the ends together. 3A certification is provided for this product as far as sanitary-line process technology is concerned, be it in food or pharmaceutical applications. The certification from 3A Sanitary Standards Inc. guarantees compliance with FDA and USDA standards.
Product Overview
The Eagle 45° Sanitary Tri-Clamp Elbow has been created for connecting two sanitary pipes via an elbow at an exact angle of 45°. This gives a directional change while keeping the flow of the product efficient in terms of spatial use. In contrast to the 90-degree elbow which changes the direction sharply, the 45-degree elbow gives the possibility for more gradual fluid passing resulting in lower turbulence and reduction of local pressure drop in case of the Centralized Clean-in-place (CIP) cleaning. Elbows are produced from seamless stainless steel tube with the interior finished with 32- Ra electropolishing, which eliminates the surface roughness as a basis for the bacteria settlement. The ends of the elbow have been developed to comply with the 3A sanitary standard 63-04 so that the joint after installation between the elbow and the fittings will be smooth and free from voids depending on the size of the fittings used.

Can this 45° elbow be used in a fully drainable system?
Certainly! The correct position of a 45° Tri-Clamp elbow allows for the drainage by gravity. When mounted correctly, it allows the liquid to drain out as soon as the system is emptied due to the 45-degree inclination. That is why 45° elbows are more commonly used than 90° ones in horizontal drain pipes — they do not hold the liquid inside the elbow and allow for better drainage. In terms of vertical-to-horizontal changes in pipes, combining a 45° elbow and a short straight piece is superior to using just a 90° elbow.
