The Tri-Clamp elbow at a 45-degree angle can be made from either type of 304 stainless steel or 316L stainless steel alloy. To successfully connect the jointing sections of the product using clamp adapters, single pin heavy duty clamps featuring wing nuts or bolted clamps as well as rubber gaskets should be used. The product is certified by 3A for its sanitary-grade equipment in the food, beverage, and pharmaceuticals sector. 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc. is available for certification of the product which adheres to FDA and USDA directives regarding prevention of contamination in food and beverage processing sector.
Product Overview
The Eagle 45° Sanitary Tri-Clamp Elbow has the ability to alter the direction of flow inside the piping system by using a 45° bend. This fitting is manufactured from seamless stainless steel tubes which have a smooth inner bore with a 32Ra electropolished finish, thus preventing bacteria from clinging to its surfaces and facilitating efficient CIP (cleaning in place) cleaning cycles. Tri-Clamp beveled ends are machined to the specifications stated in 3-A Sanitary Standards 63-04 to ensure that the joint between them and the compatible ferrule, clamp, and gasket is properly sealed. The elbow allows the user to change the direction in a more gradual manner compared to the standard 90° elbow, making it of great value when designing sloped drain lines, making ways around some obstacles or minimizing pressure drop in piping systems with several bends in them. Each fitting has its heat lot number stamped on it which allows tracing the material used.

Are Tri-Clover and Tri-Clamp the same?
Tri-Clover is a trade name originally used by the Tri-Clover division of the company Alfa Laval, and with time, it evolved into a generic term in the industry. Its more commonly recognized counterpart is the term Tri-Clamp. However, they refer to the same system of connection consisting of two beveled ferrules connected through a hinged clamp the function of which is to press a gasket between the above-mentioned ferrules. In this case, the elbow from the Eagle company uses the standard beveled ends capable of connecting it with another Tri-Clover or Tri-Clamp ferrule of the required nominal size.
What is a 45 degree elbow called?

What is the formula for a 45 degree elbow?
The center-to-face distance of a 45° elbow, known as measurement B in our table of measurements, can be determined with the expression B = tan(22.5°) × R, with R being the center line radius of the bend. For long radius sanitary elbow, the R is usually 1.5 times the nominal pipe diameter. Pipe designers would apply this formula to determine the necessary space required for the elbow in a layout and to calculate the necessary length of the pipe that connects the elbows.
What surface finish should I select for my 45° elbow?
The common electropolished finish of 32Ra can be used in many food and beverage industries. In fields such as pharmaceuticals or purified water systems, a 20Ra finish is preferred. The finest option, in this case, would be 15Ra finish, however, prices become higher, so choose finish based on technical keys and regulations.
