Constructed of uniform stainless steel 316L and featuring a mirror finish (own Ra ≤15 mu), this 2.5" elbow has been designed to eliminate the risk of contamination in sectors with important requirements for hygiene. Product Overview
The Eagle 90° Sanitary Tri-Clamp Elbow is an element of a high-purity process piping or apparatus, and it belongs to the segment of specially engineered directional fittings. This element is made of 316L stainless steel and has surface finish equal to Ra ≤15 micro-inches. Thanks to this, the flow path through the elbow is maximally smooth and doesn’t include any crevices where bacteria can reside. The ends of Tri-Clamps are manufactured so that they can be coupled with standard bevel seat ferrules, providing a reliable joint in the process system. The elbows have heat lot numbers marked on them so that the traceability of materials can be achieved. This elbow has 2-1/2" size and is applied in cases when one needs to change the direction of process piping.

Are Tri-Clover and Tri-Clamp the same?
Sure! Tri-Clover was initially the trademark used by Alfa Laval's Tri-Clover division for sanitary clamp-style connections. Eventually, however, the term became widespread throughout the industry, and people started using Tri-Clamp more often. Both refer to the same kind of connection - which consists of two bevel-seat ferrules joined together with a hinged clamp and a gasket inside. This Eagle 90 degree elbow uses standard Tri-Clamp bevel seat ends that can be used with any Tri-Clamp ferrule/clamp/gasket of the necessary size, so regardless of whether you prefer calling it Tri-Clover or Tri-Clamp, it serves the purpose!
What are the different types of 90 degree elbows?
In sanitary processing, there are two main types of elbows available in 90-degree angles – short radius and long radius elbow. The short radius elbow features a tighter curvature; the centerline radius is equal or taller than the outer diameter of the tube. Short radius elbows are compact and convenient to use in small spaces, although they result in slightly higher turbulence and pressure drop than long radius elbows. Long radius elbow has a gentler bend, which is usually 1.5-3 times larger than the outer diameter of the tube. Long radius elbows enable smooth flow and lower pressure drop than short radius elbows and are preferable to use where there is a lot of liquid flow and frequent CIP processes.
What are the standards for Tri-Clamps?
The main regulations in respect to Tri-Clamp type connectors include ISO 2852 (the global standard of assembly connectors produced of stainless steel in food industry), DIN 32676 (the German hygienic connections standard), and 3-A Sanitary Standard 63-04 (the American legislative requirement of sanitary connectors for the dairy and food processing industry). These three standards determine the ferrule dimensions, bevel seat configuration geometry, gasket groove profile, and surface finishes so that the connectors from the different companies can be interchangeable. The Eagle elbow is made in compliance with 3-A 63-04 and complies with the other relevant prescribed dimensions according to ISO 2852 and DIN 32676 of fittings of the certain nominal size.
What is a Tri-Clamp used for?
A Tri-Clamp connection is utilized to link two parts of sanitary tubing or link a fixture to a valve, pump, or tank in a sanitary process line. A clamp compresses a gasket in those two ferrules, creating a smooth and clean joint that is CIP-able and can be opened in a matter of seconds if an inspection is required or if a piping change is needed.
