Why is the 2-inch size the most common rubber hose adapter?

What type of clamp should be used to secure the rubber hose to the adapter?
To install a hose clamp, you will need either a stainless steel system worm drive or a heavy-duty bolt type that fits over the rubber hose’s outside diameter. It should be positioned behind the retention ridge on the barb shank and done up to the hose manufacturer’s specifications, which will ensure that it is tight enough to keep the hose in place during operation but not tight enough to create any damage. Make sure to tighten it again after a couple of CIP cycles as the rubber is prone to compression.
Is the 2-inch rubber adapter interchangeable with a 2-inch Tygon adapter?
No. The rubber adapter made of 2 inches differs from the Tygon hose adapter made from 2 inches in terms of some barbs. The barb of the rubber adapter is longer and has a ridge that is more capable of holding the rubber hose. In contrast, the barb of the Tygon hose adapter is designed to accommodate the thinner and stronger wall of Tygon tubing. Using a Tygon adapter with rubber hose may result in the hose coming off under pressure.
