If, on the other hand, your process involves use of aggressive chemicals such as chlorinated sanitizers, hot phosphoric acid, or products with high chloride content, then you should choose 316L. The presence of molybdenum in 316L brings it significantly superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, which will ensure continued performance of the surface for a long time when put to operation in these extreme conditions. What is the typical flow rate through a 1-inch sanitary adapter?

How do I clean and maintain the adapter in a CIP system?

Periodically, the hose should also be removed so that the surface of the barb can be inspected for any signs of pitting, scoring, or roughness that might indicate damage or corrosion presence.
