Product Overview
The 1-inch adapter is the preferred option for small amounts of sanitary processing, experimental production, and the precision delivery of the product because of the moderate flow rate and required mobility of the hose. The flat beveled seat is designed to connect to standard 1-inch Tri-clamp connections and create a flat, crevice-free, reliable seal that allows for easy cleaning. The end of the hose has also been produced with precise measurements to provide a secure grip to the 1-inch Tygon tubing and provide an uninterrupted course. The adapter can be made of 304 or 316L stainless steel, allowing the customer to select an appropriate metal based on corrosion factors in their process.

Should I choose 304 or 316L for my 1-inch adapter?
The choice of 304 or 316L depends on the cleaning chemical you use and the properties of your product. If you are working with typical dairy, brewery, and food applications with the use of regular CIP solutions at moderate temperatures, then 304 is a good choice for corrosion resistance and economic value. If, on the other hand, your process involves use of aggressive chemicals such as chlorinated sanitizers, hot phosphoric acid, or products with high chloride content, then you should choose 316L. The presence of molybdenum in 316L brings it significantly superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, which will ensure continued performance of the surface for a long time when put to operation in these extreme conditions. What is the typical flow rate through a 1-inch sanitary adapter?
An average flow velocity of 5 feet achieves a flow rate of approximately 12-14 gallons per minute (45-53 litres per minute) through a 1-inch sanitary line. This flow rate is suitable for small-batch, lab-scale, and for work where a greater capacity would be excessive. Flow characteristics vary due to system pressure, hose manufacturing conditions, and various product properties.
How do I clean and maintain the adapter in a CIP system?
The mirror-polished 32 Ra surface finish is designed to allow for the shedding of product residues and biofilm in a conventional CIP cycle. There are no special cleaning processes needed apart from what the normal CIP regulations for your system state – there’s usually a hot caustic cleaning process, followed by a rinse and acid sanitizing. A visual inspection of the adapter connection points for any residue should also be performed after each CIP cycle, with the emphasis on the straight connection where the hose connects to the barb since this is an area where substance is likely to accumulate if the hose is not completely fastened. Periodically, the hose should also be removed so that the surface of the barb can be inspected for any signs of pitting, scoring, or roughness that might indicate damage or corrosion presence. In the event the barb is damaged, it should be replaced so that it does not become another possible source of contamination.
Can this adapter be ordered in custom lengths or with non-standard dimensions?
Yes. Regardless of the fact that the standard pipe sizes cover most of the normal 1-inch pipe fittings, Eagle Fittings is able to produce extra-long pipe adaptors or ones with pipe fittings that might vary from the standard size requirements. Custom orders should have a minimum order and should have a lead time of 3–6 weeks depending on the complexity of the order.
