With the option of either 304 or 316L stainless steel, the 1/2" sanitary valve is certified under 3A for sanitary duty and finds application in many industries such as food and beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. The valve from Eagle has been designed to safely and comfortably handle liquids without allowing any backflow or bacteria buildup. What makes it an ideal choice for brewers, small batchers, and hobbyists is the fact that it is made from high-quality stainless steel and has a simple design that is easy to clean.
Product Overview
The Eagle 1/2” Sanitary Check Valve is a spring-operated uni-directional flow device cast from solid 316L stainless steel. The valve body has a precisely ground disc that rests against a smooth seat. The forward flow works against the spring, raising the disc to allow liquid to go through with little resistance. As soon as the forward flow stops or tries to reverse, the spring pushes the disc against the seat to create an absolute seal that prevents backfilling. The inner flow path is electropolished to 32Ra finish smooth enough for bacteria, yeast, and product residues to stay out of it. It is also the smallest valve among the Eagle check valves at 1/2 inch and is used in the tubing normally used in finances in home breweries, countertop food dispensers, and laboratories where accuracy and hygiene are more important than flow capacity. The butt joints are irreducibly sealed without the need for gaskets replacement or bolts tightening.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this safe for raw milk or unpasteurized beer?
Indeed, the presence of the 316L stainless steel body and the 32Ra electropolished and crevice-free interior ensures that bacteria won't form, even in cases of raw milk and unpasteurized beer. The FDA CFR 21 certification guarantees that there won't be any contamination from chemicals in the product. In raw applications, it is best to disassemble and sanitize between batches; the smooth interior facilitates this process.
Can I use it with my existing tri-clamp setup?
This valve is designed with butt-weld ends suitable for permanent installation in a permanently welded piping system. In case you require a Tri-Clamp compatible valve for quick disassembly, there is an option with Tri-Clamp ferrules from Eagle Valve. Please get in touch with our sales team regarding your requirement for a Tri-Clamp connection.
How do I clean it?
You simply need to take the valve apart, rinse it with warm water or put it in the dishwasher. The surface of 32Ra, which is cleaned through electro-polishing, easily gives off any debris; therefore most cleaning involves just rinsing of this kind. When thorough cleaning is needed or between batches, make sure to use food-safe sanitizer instead. No scrubbing and no special tools.
What if it doesn't fit my pipe?
We have a return policy for 30 days. In case the 1/2" check valve does not fit well in your system, you can return it and get a complete refund. Eagle also has sanitary check valves in sizes from 1/2" to 4" — if you want to find a different size for your pipe, get in touch with us.
